Woke up this Sunday morning (February 22, 2015) to find that mother nature had decided it would be good to have a nice quiet day inside. The snow, rain, sleet from Saturday night into Sunday morning left the church parking lot with about a quarter inch of ice in parts! Praise God the temperature is expected to go up to the low 40’s today and we should watch most if not all of this melt away.
I know it is not reality but it sure feels like every significant winter event this year has come on Saturday night into Sunday. Can’t wait until we do not have to worry about weather disrupting worship services.
Everyone enjoy the day and take it easy. Stay inside and stay safe. Spend some time with family and make the most of a quiet day.

dy and the cotton candy machine got a little out of control…but besides that it was a fantastic day! The Christian Education Board of First Baptist Church put together a Trunk or Treat event that took place right after the Kennett Square Halloween parade. People finished watching the parade and came right on up to join in the fun with trunks filled with treats. We saw lots of families we recognized from church, daycare, and vacation bible school…but we saw many more new faces.
Church of Kennett Square held an installation service which marked the end of their search for a settled pastor and the official start of my ministry in this community we are quickly growing to love. It was a great time of celebration as we looked back at the way God guided both the church and our family to the place where we were united for this season of ministry together. Pastor Jim Olsen, the intentional interim who served before me joined us and challenged us to speak the truth with love and continue to purse what it means to be the true church in this day and age. After the service was over we celebrated with a time of fellowship in the social hall and had a huge cake to mark the occasion. Cassandra captured this moment as Nancy and I cut into the cake before everyone had an opportunity to share a piece. We are looking forward to see how God is going to work in and through us in the days and months ahead.
