Thank you for your support and prayers during my journey. Maybe I can help with some of your Christmas gifts?
A Knitter’s Journey
My mom has always been a knitter. She knit me a sweater years ago that remains my all-time favorite. Nancy and I were living in upstate NY when mom made it. In the coldest of winter I could leave my jacket at home when I was wearing that sweater.
At some point, mom began to knit baby blankets, hats, and booties for the Capital City Rescue Mission. Each year they did an auction to benefit the mission. Mom would donate several blankets to be auctioned off. It became part of her service. A giving back that she could do each evening as mom and dad sat quietly at home.
The Knitting Gives Back
Over time mom began to struggle with memory issues. While some everyday tasks became struggles, her knitting became a place of refuge. She found comfort within the routine and pattern of needles and yarn.
When mom and dad moved to be near us three years ago she was worried that nobody would want her knitting. Far from the mission she was concerned nobody would find her gift valuable. I assured her that plenty of people would. I encouraged her to keep knitting as long as it made her happy. Knitting fills a big part of each day. It brings peace, comfort, and joy.
Sharing Mom’s Gift
Each week I receive her creations and look to find places to share with people who will appreciate them. We have found plenty of people that appreciate her handiwork.
The children of JAM Daycare love the doll blankets. They are the perfect size for wrapping up baby dolls. As new babies come into the daycare, many families are given a handmade blanket and hat as a welcome gift. Young Moms has given some baby blankets to the women they serve. Nancy and I have put aside enough blanket sets for future great-grand-children (no rush…no pressure).
From time to time, we find ourselves with “increased inventory.” When mom is focused, she will create a blanket each week.
Here is Your Opportunity
If you are interested in sharing one of these with a loved one for Christmas, I will gladly get it to you.All I ask is that you let me know which one you would like, and then send me a picture of your loved one opening it up on Christmas day. Sharing that picture with mom would mean the world to her.
First come…first served. One per person…when they are gone, they are gone.

Hi Dan. I have been looking over your sites. I began reading your book which Ruth Lyon loaned me and unfortunately haven’t gotten into it more than the introduction…. Looking forward to it.
The pictures of your Dad and Mom are very sweet. I think your daughter is also in the picture?
Our Ladies’ Bible Study which had been at Ruth Lyon’s has been temporarily being held at Candy Stark’s and then at Karen Barbers while Ruth has been adjusting to the great loss of Pastor Lyon. I think she will host us next week. She is such a Godly woman.
You may or may not know that Candy has been very ill with sugar and kidney complications. She is home again after spending Christmas week in the hospital. Ann and David Dence are also struggling with Dave’s dementia.
Your ministry there sounds like a blessing to all. I’m sure your parents are extremely proud of you.
I know you or Nancy will try all possible to share this with your parents. You are on a big adventure yourself and proving God’s strength in weakness. You also have been in our prayers many times.
Thank you for all you are doing in the kingdom with His help. I hope this information is of interest to you and your parents. You may remember my “children” Mark, Margaret, Jill and Wendy. Wendy is turning 50 in February. That means all four will be in their 50s. Unbelievable. Since Gordon’s passing in 2011, I have married a friend from high school days, retired A.F. Colonel and Episcopal Priest. It is a very full life. We live in Greenville and Wendy’s family are at the Rennick homestead in Westerlo.
Love in Christ, Bella (Rennick) Adinolfi
