As a caregiver, there are seasons when I literally do not have time to do things for myself. Self-care sounds nice, but it is not possible at the moment. However, there are also times when I can take time for myself. When Dan is not in treatment and is feeling well, I can make my health and well-being a priority. When self-care is possible, I need to give myself permission to go for a walk, watch a movie, visit a friend and take a break. Taking care of myself makes me stronger when I need to focus on caring for others.
