As Dan dealt with the side effects of chemotherapy we both had to learn new ways of navigating life. Dan did not have strength in his hands and trying what used to be simple tasks served to frustrate him. I learned that he could not always do things I had asked him to do in the past. Where he used to open jar lids that were stuck, now it was a struggle that reminded him of what he had lost. Over the years, I have found little tricks that help me without frustrating Dan.
