Tonight we had a great Maundy Thursday service. The community came together, shared a time of worship, gathered round the communion table and let the scriptures speak for themselves. It was a truly special time as we remembered and celebrated Christ and prepared for our Easter morning worship.
This idea of preparation is one of the reasons I really like the season of Lent. Without Lent Easter can sneak up on us. All of a sudden we find ourselves in a packed church celebrating the resurrection without having thought about the sacrifice that came before the celebration of the empty tomb.
While it does make for a busy week…Maundy Thursday…Good Friday…Saturday celebrations and preparations…all getting ready for Sunday morning…let me encourage you to take some time and find a Good Friday service in your community to remember what and who we celebrate on Easter morning.
If you happen to be in the Kennett Square area and are looking for a Good Friday service, First Baptist will have our service at 7 pm, Friday night.
